May was a long and busy month. Storage shed building contractors came and went. We had weekly vet, along with some human appointments. Brad attended a horse show, things went well. I stayed home to take care of our animals. Gardens and containers were planted. Watering and more watering were daily activities. Just to name a few things that kept us busy in May.
As for our land itself, our wooded paths turned into green tunnels with pesky ticks and other biters. Making me wish for Winter. Hiking was enjoyed sparingly. My mosquito net saved my face a couple times. These days it is clipped onto my pants loop, just incase.
Summer's heat arrived early. Our hay fields have grown long and dry. They are scheduled to be cut next week. We are finally getting much needed rain this week!

Brad sent me a photo of some blooms he spotted growing in a part of our land we don't frequent as much. I was SO surprised to see these transplanted iris thriving on their own in the sandiest part of our propertyl!!
They used to grow in the front bed of my previous home. I have a much smaller garden bed now and didn't have a spot for them to live. Our son has zero interest in gardening, so we took all the beds out. I saved and gave away whatever plants I could.
It is safe to say these Iris are very hardy!
We are already almost half way through June. Enjoy the turn of official Summer!!

Your Iris was a nice surprise! I liked Tanks branch of the day! Hope you have good June!
You do have lovely sky views there.
That pale clematis looks like a Nellie Moser.
Glad Brad had a good show.
I could almost smell the pine tree in that downed branch photo. Our long drveway is lined with spruce trees and on a hot day they smell wonderful!
Beautiful views of the skies that we don't get.
Sounds like you had a very busy May.
Tank and his sticks!
Half way through June. That doesn’t seem possible. I can barely remember May now.
Weekly vet appointments? Is that something you wrote about before? Is one of your horses being treated?
Your profusion of wildflowers and flower surprises must help to make up for the bugs, but you sure do get more than your fair share back there. We’ve had a mild bug year so far. I put dish detergent in every standing water puddle during spring to kill off the mosquitoes. It worked. Now, if I could only figure something out for flies and yellow jackets.
Linda, Our dog Tank had weekly Chemo treatments (40 min one way, plus staying in town waiting etc) all month. Koda also has vet appts, currently every 3 weeks. I need to write about his experience.
We do have an active ecosystem here. Good idea to use a bit of dish soap. Timing must have been key. As for wasps, you could try decoy nests.

Shirley, the pictured pale pink clematis is not a Nellie Moser. They do look similar! Nellie is brighter. I had one of them growing by my mailbox at my old house and decided to leave it. Pretty sure it perished. I don't remember the name of this pale one. One of my favs. Thrived & a repeat bloomer at the bottom of our pond waterfall. It is very reliable, and an oldie! I've easily had it over 20 yrs. It was a $3 Walmart special, go figure.
