a horse without his girl

Sometimes life takes a turn of unexpected events, which found me watching a horse without his girl be bravely shown by her close friend today at a memorial show in her honor. We attended to support those she left behind, including her beloved horse.

While no doubt it was painful, it also lent itself to healing for those who knew and loved Kara Czerwonka - including her mother who showed in several classes. I didn't know Kara personally, but she stood out at the summer show series we attended from day one.

Apparently she was known for walking her horse and holding her purse while texting on her cell phone (a requirement for this fun class) - Hip Hop knew exactly what to do. They had a great turn-out of supporters, beautiful weather, and the healing touch of horses.

What wonderful photos and story!!!!! Is it possible for Kara's mother, Laura Czerwonka, to get prints of the photos?

Yep, I am in the process of getting the photos to her, as well as Kara's friend.

The local news did a nice story on the show. I can't get the link to work in this comment field - it's on NBC 15. I'll try posting it as a blog entry, to create awareness...

Laura, Kara's mother, does not have access to email so asked me to send her comment.

She thanks you from the bottom of her heart for your touching story and beautiful photos of her daughter Kara.

I'm sure Laura and Nikki, Kara's friend, will be thrilled to receive your photos.

Deb, I am humbled that my heartfelt words meant so much, thank you for your response - and more importantly letting Laura know. She is lucky to have a friend like you.

It was a pleasant surprise to meet you and Laura today at the barn - simply amazing how that worked out...

We watched the National Anthem clip you gave us from the show, brought tears to my eyes - thanks so much for sharing!

Aurora, It was also a pleasant surprise to meet you and ? yesterday at the barn - and truly amazing how that worked out. I do believe our beloved Kara had something to do with it. :)

As you saw, Laura was so touched by your card and special photos of Nikki & Hip Hop. She kept looking at the photos and card over and over again once you left the barn. And, brought the photos and card to dinner to share with a friend last night.

There's a story about the "pink poodle" purse Nikki was carrying that you captured so well in one of the photos. Kara had always wanted a poodle but her mom couldn't afford another dog back then (about six years ago). So, a mother and daughter, close friends of Laura and Kara, bought her the purse with two poodles on the front of it so Kara would have her poodles. The mother and daughter were surprised that Kara had saved the purse and were flattered that Nikkie was carrying it in the "Hold the Purse" class.

I'm glad that I was able to share the "National Anthem" dvd with you. It's the least I could do after everything you shared with so many.

I'm sure Kara will see to it that our trails pass again. :)
