Sunday Stills ~ circles

I went on my first location shoot to the historic Hyde's Mill, with a local photography group I joined. The Mill's focal point is a very large circle, the wheel.

I couldn't decide between the two photo's above, so I posted them both. Which one do you like better?

Huge circle stone weights caught my attention at the mill
(my hubby thinks they were likely used to grind the wheat)

A full view of Hyde's Mill

Awesome shots! How perfect that your photography chose that location, too.
I really like that stone weight, too.

If I had to choose, I'd go with the second, wider shot, because you can see more of the water and the sign on the wall is clearer. Also the first shot make the mill look sort of like it's leaning forward into the water somehow.

Beautiful Shots...

I also like the wider shot. And yes, those are millstones, used to grind grain.

Thank you for the input. Good eye, I hadn't noticed the lean on the first photo.

Great shots, deffinatly the second, the stones are mill stones and are used to grind wheat and corn..:-)

How great it is that you have a photography group in your area to help scout out locations.

Thanks Ed! I am really enjoying the challenges, next one is going to be hard.

Nuzzling, It was way out of my comfort zone to take a road trip with a bunch of people I had never met, but the photo group folks were really nice! I had heard of the mill, but had no idea where it was.

That's my favorite circle of all the Sunday Stills circles. So historic.

I have a fascination with old mills. I love this one. Great photos. Wouldn't it be neat to have one in your back yard?!

Awe, thanks CCC - you made my day!

Dreaming, Hyde's Mill is for sale for some $800-900,000. It comes with a house, and surrounding acreage. I agree it would be cool to have one, the sound is spectacular.

Hmmm, a tad bit over my budget. Oh well!

I prefer the composition in the first mill photo. The circle stone is pretty cool too. Hyde's Mill looks like an awesome place to visit any time of year.
