We took the back roads on the way home from our trainers yesterday, and stumbled upon these...
old barn |
another old barn |
two old barns together a third structure in between these two barns, has collapsed into a heap of old wood and is unrecognizable |
...old barns, well actually anything old, makes me wonder about their past...what were they like in their prime...how did they come upon such disarray...ohhh the stories they would tell, if only they could...
looking into the past |
...this was my favorite farm building out of the four we found grouped together, altho not technically a barn. Could it have been the homestead, or a smokehouse, or some other type of farm building that was actively used back in it's day? The photo above looks through what appears to have been the door, into the past...

...I could shoot photos of old barns & buildings all day long...see other old barns at Sunday Stills.

Wow I should tour over there, I too love old barns!
Very nice, they do make one wonder how they functioned in their hayday. Thanks to you they will be around for a long time.
Great pictures. It's a sad sight to see them falling apart like this, but I really like the way the wood ages.
Neat photos- that last one looks like it should be in a painting
Those are great old barns.... love the wood which is now all faded and worn.
bet those old wall have some stories
I love old buildings, especially barns, too! You did a great job with the variety of building you shared. It is hard not to look at these old buildings and not wonder about their past!
Well done! I wonder what stories they could tell also! :)
What a great find. Like everyone else, I'm left wondering what tales they could tell.
Beautiful! If only those walls could talk. :)
Great shots, I've spent the last day and a half in Sheboygan..:-)
Thank you for all the nice comments! After seeing many old barns with less then ideal vantage points, it was so fun finding & shooting these wonderful abandoned buildings! I plan to do a little searching on their background.
Ed, you've caught WI in a cold spell. I am sure you figured that out, when you stepped out of your truck! We are stuck in the cold "ugly part" of winter, what is left of the snow is dirty, hard & crusty - yuck! I want more snow, the fluffy sparkly kind :) Hope you'll come back sometime & experience better WI weather!
