a first for Hope

Our farrier appointments are scheduled every six weeks, before he leaves our place. Like clockwork. He is a good farrier and therefore a busy man. He has more work then wanted. It's hard to get on his schedule otherwise.

All horses get trimmed, in random order. This post baby visit, Cierra got trimmed at the usual spot. At the front of the barn, closest to his truck. Once again, she didn't mind being away from her baby. Hope on the other hand did mind and let us all know she felt left behind.

I tried to calm Hope down, and it worked. Not a peep once I started scratching her.

It was Hope's turn for a trim.

Hope got her front feet trimmed. We didn't even try the back. She will also have them trimmed next visit. We need to do more work with holding her back legs up, so she won't resist and can figure out her balance.

Hope was such a good girl!

trade-off

We had the farrier out last night to trim all three of our horses. I rushed home from work and made it in time to watch half the first horse get trimmed. Not that they need me, but I try not to miss out. He was working on Harmony’s back feet. Front shoe’s were already off. I guess they decided she would do fine barefoot for now...I hope that goes okay? She’s had front shoes on for as long as I’ve known her. She did well in a new location for our farrier, not bad considering Harmony has had her previous owner doing her feet her whole life. Wonder if it feels good not to have metal on the bottom of her feet?

Koda was a curious wiggle-worm for the farrier. He’s partial to bays, so Koda has that in his favor lol. However Nemo gets "the prize" for being the best behaved this time. I swear they trade-off!!

watching for changes

We had the farrier come out to trim last night. He was surprised how big the boys had grown. We see them daily, so it's not as noticeable to us. Looking back at pictures they really have grown, among other changes. The most noticeable being Nemo's face color progressively changing, it's whiting out (like his mom). I'll be watching for other changes as these great guys keep growing. Appy's sure are fun!!

Wondering if Jessie's ears were ringing last night ?
Bill (the farrier) mentioned your name more than once (all good of course) while he was at our place.
